Left atrial late gadolinium enhancement and mitral regurgitation in subjects with atrial fibrillation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) is used to evaluate fibrosis of the left atrium (LA) in subjects with atrial fibrillation (AF). LA fibrosis by LGE has been shown to correlate with LA volumes. However, within AF subjects, the association of mitral regurgitation (MR) with LA LGE is not well described. Pathological studies have demonstrated atrial fibrosis and tissue disorganization in cardiac diseases, including valvular disease. The current study evaluates the relationship between LA LGE, LA volumes, and MR in subjects with AF.

Incidence of Atrial Fibrillation after Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery and Its Risk Factors in Shiraz, Iran during 2017-18
Background and Objectives: Atrial fibrillation is one of the most common disorientations after coronary artery bypass graft surgery and can affect the chance of survival in the first year after surgery. The present study aimed to determine the incidence of atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass graft surgery and its risk factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on...
متن کاملComparison of electroanatomic voltage mapping with late gadolinium enhancement CMR
Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with atrial remodeling, including atrial cellular pathology [1,2], left atrial enlargement [3], and low voltage on electroanatomic mapping (EAM)[4]. Recent studies have identified late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) in AF subjects pre-PVI as novel evidence of LA remodeling [5]. One study compared voltage by EAM obtained prior to a pulmonary vein i...

متن کاملLower left atrial strain in the presence of regional atrial fibrosis: an MRI study of patients with atrial fibrillation
Background LA strain, measured by feature-tracking using cine MRI, is an emerging tool for regional evaluation of the left atrium [1-4]. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE MRI) is a method which indicates regions of possible atrial fibrosis. Their regional relationship is not known. Our goal was to compare global and regional left atrial (LA) strain in atrial fibrillation (AF) subjects and contro...
متن کاملLeft Atrial Appendage Thrombosis Simulating Myxoma
A 51-year-old man was admitted to the emergency department with palpitation and atypical chest pain. He had a history of percutaneous mitral valve commissurotomy 20 years previously. He did not use any drugs. Physical examination was unremarkable except for a loud S1 on auscultation. The surface electrocardiogram (ECG) showed atrial fibrillation rhythm with rapid ventricular response and right ...
